To help you do so, we recommend doing the following things:
· Keep up on oral hygiene: Make sure you brush your teeth twice a day, floss your smile once a day, and rinse your mouth daily with mouthwash. Doing these things will help you prevent cavities and gum disease and they will help you maintain a strong oral health.
· Take care of your smile: Do your best to avoid eating sugary and starchy foods as much as possible. These foods tend to cause tooth decay. Also, please wear a mouthguard while you are active so your smile stays protected, and please refrain from smoking. Lastly, it’s best that you stay away from oral piercings. They can harm your smile more than you realize.
· Visit your dentist: Come into our office every six months for a dental cleaning and exam so you can completely prevent gum disease and professionally clean your oral cavity. These appointments are very important and they are necessary if you want to achieve your smile goals.
· Take care of your braces: If you are currently aligning your smile with braces, please take care of your appliance as much as possible. Brush and floss your teeth after each meal and snack and avoid participating in habits that can break your brackets and wires.
